Is Your Organisation Happy To Serve?

Tony Hsieh, the founder of Zappos, a hugely successful online retailer built on fantastic customer service, has written an inspiring book on bringing purpose and meaningful culture into organisations - Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose.

He highlights 4 key parts to Happiness at work -

  1. Perceived control - the more autonomy people feel they have, the happier they are.
  2. Perceived progress - personal and professional development shouldn't be a once a year thing. People need regular feedback and encouragement.
  3. Meaning/Vision - when everyone in a company truly understands the purpose of an organisation, their performance levels rise.
  4. Connectedness - feeling part of something, relating, being heard make people more motivated. Don't just communicate - listen, respond and connect.
